How MIRRA uses artificial intelligence and handles your skin data
Plain language summary: Your skin photos are analysed by Claude AI in real time and not stored permanently. Your scan results live on your device, not our servers. We never sell your data or use it to train AI models.
MIRRA uses Claude, a large language model developed by Anthropic, to analyse your skin photographs and generate personalised skin reports, VISRA forecasts, and product recommendations.
Claude is accessed via Anthropic's secure API. Anthropic is an AI safety company based in the United States. You can read Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
When you submit a photo for analysis, the following happens:
Your photo never leaves the API request pipeline. It is not saved to a database, not logged to a file, and not accessible after the scan completes.
| Data type | Where it goes | How long | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skin photograph | Anthropic API (in transit) | Duration of scan only | Anthropic's servers (per-request) |
| Scan report (scores, metrics) | Your device (localStorage) | Until you clear it | Only you |
| Diary entries & photos | Your device (localStorage) | Until you clear it | Only you |
| Account (name, email) | Our server (users.json) | While account active | Dekina Beauty |
| Payment records | Paystack + our server | 7 years (legal requirement) | Paystack + Dekina Beauty |
| Streak & routine data | Your device (localStorage) | Until you clear it | Only you |
MIRRA's AI analyses are probabilistic — they are generated by a machine learning model interpreting visual data and do not constitute clinical diagnosis.
Always consult a qualified dermatologist for diagnosis or treatment of skin conditions.
Dekina Beauty does not use your photographs, scan results, or personal data to train AI models. Anthropic's API usage terms prohibit using customer data for model training without explicit consent. We have not given such consent.
Your skin data is yours. It is used only to generate your personal scan report and nothing else.
Facial photographs are considered biometric data under applicable data protection frameworks. We handle this data with the following protections:
VISRA generates skin forecasts by sending your scan history, ritual consistency data, and product usage patterns to Claude AI as text — no photograph is involved in VISRA processing. The forecast is generated as a written analysis and returned to your browser.
VISRA forecasts are projections based on your historical data and consistent use of your current routine. They are not guarantees of specific outcomes.
You can export all your local MIRRA data at any time from your Profile page. The export includes your scan history, diary entries, streak data, and account information as a JSON file.
To request deletion of your server-side account data (email, plan, payment records), email info@dekinabeauty.com with the subject "Delete My Data".
As MIRRA evolves and as AI regulations develop, we may update this policy. We will notify you of significant changes. The AI models or providers we use may change — we will update this document if they do.
